Best Salmon Rubs and Marinades

We all know that salmon has many health benefits such as good fat (omega-3 fatty acids), it is also rich in minerals like iron, calcium, and phosphorus and vitamins like A, B, and D. Salmon promotes cardiovascular health and reduces inflammation of the arteries and digestive system.

Not to mention it is delicious but like with chicken, we can often fall sort on imaginative ways to spice it up. Here at Mochi Barley we have come up with 6  delicious salmon rubs and marinades to help you with just that.

Rubs

Simple 

4 teaspoons light brown sugar

1 tsp Montreal steak seasoning

1/2 tsp paprika

1. Rub the fish with the mixture and let it sit for 10 minutes before baking or grilling the fish.


 Curry 

1 1/2 teaspoon garam masala

3/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon cumin

1/4 teaspoon yellow curry powder

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

3 dashes cayenne pepper

1/8 teaspoon paprika

1/8 teaspoon cardamom

1. Rub the fish with the mixture and let it sit for 10 minutes before baking or grilling the fish.

 Spicy

2 tablespoons sugar

1tablespoon chili powder

1 teaspoon pepper

1⁄2 tablespoon cumin

1⁄2 tablespoon paprika

1⁄2 teaspoon salt

1⁄4 teaspoon dry mustard

1⁄4 teaspoon cinnamon

1. Rub the fish with the mixture and let it sit for 10 minutes before baking or grilling the fish.


Marinades

Mustard

½ cup of soy sauce

2 tsp of red pepper flakes

2 tsp of wholegrain mustard

1 tbs of garlic powder

⅓ cup of canola oil

⅓ cup of brown sugar

2 soaked cedar planks

1. In a large zip top bag place all marinade ingredients in and mix together. let it marinade for 2-4 hours


Garlic and Lemon 

½ cup olive oil

¼ cup fresh lemon juice

2 tablespoons red wine vinegar

1 tablespoon honey

4 teaspoons minced garlic

2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped

2 teaspoons salt

½ teaspoon pepper

1. In a large zip top bag place all marinade ingredients in and mix together. let it marinade for a max of 1 hour.


Thai

6 tablespoons Thai Sweet Chili Sauce

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon peeled and finely grated fresh ginger

2 scallions, green parts only, finely sliced

1. In a large zip top bag place all marinade ingredients in and mix together. let it marinade for a max of 1 hour.
